Chris Boerner (kris burn'er)

Born in Durham, NC, raised in Raleigh (yes they are two different cities) Chris Boerner began playing music at the ripe old age of 8 with the alto saxophone. At age 13 he sold his saxophone to buy his first guitar. A few years later he joined his first rock 'n roll band, Strange Brew. This continued into college where he studied music at Duke University. In college interests shifted to classical and jazz guitar. Teachers included Randy Reed, Scott Sawyer, Drew Lile, and Chip Crawford. Out of college Chris was a charter member the experimental hip-hop, jazz collective, The Mighty Burners. With the Burners on an extended hiatus Chris has formed the Chris Boerner Quartet, an outlet for his unique compositional style. He also currently performs regularly with Mosadi Music and The Proclivities as well. Chris lives in Raleigh, NC where he continues to compose, produce, record and perform in and around the area.
